Vicky:  yogini, dancer, videojournalist, world traveler, travel writer, creator of sambayogi.com

I discovered yoga as a child, following along with my father whenever he practiced yoga at home with a teacher.  It wasn’t until 2004, that I started learning the foundation of yoga asanas. Taking beginner’s classes and seeing my body become stronger and more flexible as time went, I realized the power of a yoga practice – it never ends, instead it evolves and continues off the mat.  My practice has grown from a strong Vinyasa flow into a slower, but no less powerful practice that’s also more present, influenced by Afro-Brazilian dance and the ancient arts of Chi Gong.

My passion for yoga and dance has inspired me to create sambayogi.com, featuring video interviews with the many memorable yogis and dancers who I’ve had the pleasures to meet in my yogic journey.  I hope to share the goodness and inspiration through these videos.

My teachers have always said, “the way you practice yoga is the way you move through life.”  When life throws a curve ball, yoga’s mindfulness has taught me not to panic.  Yoga has made me look at life differently, and now I tackle life’s challenges with calm and openness.
